Slide projector, 81 slides, sound installation of 15’ loop. 2025

Exhibited at the 2025 Rundgang of the Akademie Der Bildenden Künste Wien, Huemer Klasse.

This installation consists of a slide projector displaying a series of blurry photographs alongside a sound piece generated by an AI trained on the artist's voice. All the photos are shot on film, intentionally taken blurry, alternating dia and negative film. The AI recites a text composed in Italian, French, English, and German, with abstract content that resists immediate comprehension.

The work explores the idea that subjectivity is not always fully legible and that much of the information we encounter remains beyond our understanding. Instead of seeking clarity, the installation embraces ambiguity and the potential that lies within it. The blurred personal images and the confused reading of thoughts, quotes and essayistic extracts, prevent the viewer from fixating on a single interpretation of what the artist is sharing, encouraging openness to multiple meanings. Similarly, the multilingual sound component disrupts the expectation of coherence, highlighting the limits of language and comprehension.

The projected images retain qualities that cannot be edited, their appearance is shaped by the conditions in which they were captured and the environment in which they are displayed - light, focus, and material imperfections. In contrast, the AI-generated voice is entirely digital, artificial, and editable - stripped of personal intention or lived experience. By engaging with these elements, the viewer is invited to consider the value of uncertainty and the complexity that emerges when things are not entirely defined, and instead of the legible informations, what is left are the aesthetic qualities of the images and the sound. The work resists simplification, proposing that the unknown and the indeterminate are not obstacles to understanding but spaces of possibility.
